Peel Plaza

Peel Plaza is a downtown Saint John urban streetscape and civic plaza project that knits together three major public institutions — the New Brunswick Museum, the Law Courts, and the regional police headquarters — into a single, coherent public realm. Glenn Group designed the pedestrian connections, plaza spaces, and streetscape that link these buildings, delivering pedestrian-scale lighting, seating, accessible routes, and layered planting that give the civic precinct a unified, welcoming identity.

Much of the plaza sits directly on top of a below-grade parking garage, which made the structural, drainage, and planting conditions especially demanding and required close coordination between numerous engineering and design teams. The work also had to reconcile new construction with the surrounding heritage buildings and streets — carefully bridging old and new so that contemporary civic architecture sits comfortably alongside Saint John's historic fabric. The result is an accessible, activated downtown gathering place that ties the museum, courts, and police headquarters together through a shared public realm.
